Property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia has lost his son, Rajiv Ruparelia, in a car accident. According to Uganda Police Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the 35-year-old Rajiv Ruparelia died today at around 1:54 am when his vehicle crashed, overturned, and caught fire at the Busabala flyover.

“On 03/05/2025 at 1:54 am, a white Nissan GTR (UAT 638L) crashed, overturned & caught fire at Busabala flyover. We have been informed that the driver was Rajiv Ruparelia (35). He died at the scene,” Owoyesigyire told our reporter and also posted the same on his X handle, formerly known as Twitter. Owoyesigyire added that Rajiv Ruparelia was the only person in the vehicle and that investigations are ongoing.

According to videos and pictures circulating on social media, which our reporter has seen, Rajiv’s vehicle was burnt beyond recognition. People are seen trying to run toward the vehicle to help him, but the fire had already burnt him beyond rescue. Police indicate that Rajiv was driving a very powerful car whose speed limit goes up to 380 km/h, one of the rarest vehicles in Africa.

Rajiv Ruparelia was the Managing Director of the Ruparelia Group of Companies and the founding driver of the Ruparelia Rally Team. He usually participated in rally competitions-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
