Police in Oyam District have arrested an enrolled student at Ngai Health Centre III for allegedly stealing government drugs.

George Okeng, and Ambrose Ameny, a volunteer at the facility, were arrested on Thursday. Trouble for the accused started when a staff member at the facility informed the local leaders that Okeng had packed some medical drugs and was ferrying them to an unknown destination.

The leaders, together with police, searched Okeng’s bags and discovered boxes of assorted drugs.

Water Ato, the LCV Councillor for Ngai Sub-County, revealed that George Okeng was intercepted at Ngai Trading Centre with government drugs, including Coherterm, Amoxicillin capsules, Panadol, gloves, and malaria test kits.

Hendry Atocon, the officer in charge (OC) of Ngai Police Station, confirmed the arrest of Okeng for unlawful possession of government property.

Shilaku James, the Oyam Resident District Commissioner, said Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the alleged theft and determine how the drugs were accessed and removed from the facility.
