A group of NRM supporters have threatened to fight hard to ensure that Kampala minister Minsa Kabanda doesn’t succeed to become the Kampala central MP. They say she is an envious old woman who doesn’t like to see other female cadres become prominent in Kampala.

They claim that Minsa didn’t do enough to ensure that Faridah Nambi defeats Elias Nalukoola to become the MP for Kawempe north. They claim that Minsa Kabanda feared that a successful Faridah Nambi would excite Museveni to the extent of making her the new minister for Kampala. Ironically, Minsa Kabanda is who she is today because she was marketed to Museveni by Hajji Moses Kigongo who is the father of Faridah Nambi.

As such, Faridah Nambi’s supporters have vowed to do all in their power to make sure NUP big man David Rubongoya wins the race for Kampala central and becomes the new area MP replacing Mohammed Nsereko and not Minsa Kabanda. Stopping the Kampala minister won’t be that easy because, since joining cabinet, she has changed from a poverty-stricken NRM cadre operating a small clinic in Kisenyi to a billionaire for whom money is no longer a problem.

Minsa Kabanda has become so powerful to the extent that Frank Russa Nyakana nearly became the new KCCA executive director and one of his main backers and promoters was Minsa Kabanda. She did her best and the president was almost convinced except that some other even more powerful forces weighed in at the last minute and sealed the fate for Minsa Kabanda’s candidate. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
