Police in Serere district have retrieved a one-day-old baby girl from a latrine in Kidetok Town Council.

Constable Brenda Awekonimungu, says that a resident George William Otwani brought the matter to his attention when he heard the baby crying in the pit latrine. They alerted the police who rushed to the scene and decided to dismantle the pit latrine and retrieve the minor still alive.

They rushed the minor to Kidetok Mission Health Centre III, for medical examination.

Awekonimungu, says that investigations by the police revealed that the mother of the minor was Otwani’s daughter.  The 16-year-old was brought in for questioning and initially denied any knowledge of a pregnancy.

However, she was taken to Kidetok Mission Health Centre III for additional tests, which confirmed that she had recently given birth-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
