Erias Nalukoola the former legal advisor in DP quit recently and signalled readiness to join NUP in the hope he would ride on Kyagulanyi’s popularity to fulfil his childhood dream of becoming the MP for his native Kawempe North come 2026.

Nalukoola thought he was big enough to get the Kyagulanyi endorsement automatically to take up what used to be Mohammed Segirinya’s MP Seat. Unknown to Nalukoola, Kyagulanyi wasn’t as excited to have him come to NUP as he thought.

Having decided to have his own brother Fred Nyanzi go for Kawempe North MP Seat, Bobi Wine now wants Nalukoola to run for the Kawempe I Lord Councillorship slot so that he becomes one of the more than 50 KCCA Councillors at City Hall come 2026. The idea is to have Nalukoola use the Councillorship position to be mentored and grow his politics before NUP can consider him good enough for their flag for MP Seat anywhere in Uganda.

Some wanted assurances that Nalukoola would be supported to become the KCCA Speaker, something Bobi Wine has also been reluctant to commit himself about. The thinking at Kavule is that Nalukoola is afterall not the game-changing defector coming to NUP the way he had initially inflated himself to be.

Sources say that Nalukoola is these days broken and crest-fallen over the contempt with which Bobi Wine has treated him so far regarding his original ambition to become Member of Parliament for Kawempe North as early as 2026.
