Mukono Territorial Police are investigating allegations of sexual abuse involving seven male pupils of Albright Junior School in Ggulu Ward, Mukono Central Division, following the arrest of the school’s 24-year-old Director of Studies, Gerald Lukyamuzi.
The case, registered under SD Ref. 39/10/19/2026, was reported on October 19, 2026. Police say Lukyamuzi allegedly took the pupils from school and sexually abused them at his residence between February and October 2026. The allegations came to light after a school meeting in which Primary Seven pupils were encouraged to discuss with their parents any challenges they were facing as they prepared for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
One of the pupils reportedly disclosed the alleged abuse to his parents, who subsequently reported the matter to police. Officers visited the school and launched investigations. According to sources, the suspect allegedly admitted that the abuse began while he was teaching at a school in Luweero and continued until his arrest.
It is further alleged that Lukyamuzi had taken in one of his former pupils after promising the boy’s parents that he would support him with school fees, but subsequently subjected him to sexual abuse over an extended period. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala said officers had rescued and interviewed the victims, conducted medical examinations, visited the alleged crime scene and recorded statements from the complainant, parents and other witnesses.
Kawala also confirmed that Lukyamuzi had been charged with aggravated defilement. “Police are also recording statements from school administrators and tracing other individuals who may be relevant to the case. The case file will be submitted to the relevant legal authorities for guidance and further action,” she said. Police condemned all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation of children, urging parents, guardians and school administrators to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected cases-URN.
