Minsa Kabanda the Kampala minister says that Kampala mayor Ronald Balimwezo is not a very important person as he takes himself. She says Balimwezo is a wannabe politician who will soon realize that he actually has no power to stop anything in Kampala.
Minsa Kabanda was reacting to Balimwezo opposition to the city square being redeveloped by businessman Hassan Bulwadda on grounds that Kampala needs its green spaces for the city’s aeration.
Kabanda says Balimwezo has no moral authority to discuss the development because the president’s letter was never copied to him. She says Balimwezo is a nobody in Kampala which is why Museveni didn’t even copy his letter to him.
She also reminded him of the fact that it was his mentor the former Kampala mayor Sebaana Kizito under whom he served as a councilor, who first fronted the city square redevelopment proposal more than 20 years ago. She wondered why Balimwezo never raised his opposition at that time.
She adds that when time comes the matter will be given to the KCCA speaker John Sebuwufu for tabling before the KCCA council meeting where councillors will be officially informed and asked to give their views. Kabanda says it’s the council of all councillors which is important and not Balimwezo as a person. She says that being elected doesn’t make Balimwezo special because even herself was elected by the people of Kampala central.
Minsa Kabanda advised Balimwezo to grow up and stop the cheap politicking based on social media reports. ‘Let him wait to get the letter officially written to him and comment based on that otherwise those things of gossiping about Nakivubo school land and other things is unfounded and its shameful for the whole lord mayor to operate and address the media based on social media rumours.’
Minsa Kabanda said she isn’t aware of the big person at parliament and a former MP from Sembabule in whose favour another blue letter has been written regarding the redevelopment of the land currently sitting the Nakivubo Settlement primary school.
Balimwezo has been trying to implicate two NRM MPs including a big man at parliament while claiming that they too are on the verge of taking over the Nakivubo primary school land. Kabanda says its shameful for a whole lord mayor to operate on rumours yet he has means to verify all these things. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com.
