Police in Kween District are investigating the circumstances under which the decomposed body of an unidentified person was found in River Ngenge. The body was discovered at about 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, in Kokwanyi Village, Kapwoti Parish, Ngenge Sub-county.
Sipi Regional Police spokesperson Fredmark Chesang said the body was discovered by Wilfred Chemusto, a resident of Kaplal Village, who was searching for building materials near the river. “The person who discovered the body was looking for building materials near River Ngenge when he suddenly encountered the decomposed body,” Chesang said.
Police issued postmortem forms PF 48A and PF 48B and transported the body to Kapchorwa Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the possible cause of death. Chesang said further investigations will focus on identifying the deceased and establishing how the person ended up in the river.
