Final asphalt surfacing works on the Katonga Bridge approach roads have commenced, with motorists expected to experience traffic management and reduced road width for the next week.

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT) says the works started this morning, Monday, August 10, 2026, and will run for one week. The ministry says the approach roads will remain open at half width during the works, with traffic being managed through the work zone.

“To allow the works to proceed safely while keeping traffic moving, the approach roads will remain open at half width, with traffic managed through the work zone,” the notice states. The ministry has urged motorists to follow traffic guidance at the site, keep within designated lanes and exercise patience.

“Attempts to overtake, bypass others or disregard traffic instructions may disrupt traffic flow and cause unnecessary delays and congestion,” the ministry cautioned. The works mark the final stage of improvements on the Katonga Bridge approach roads. “We appreciate your cooperation as we complete this important stage of works at Katonga Bridge,” the ministry said-URN.
