According to Lt. Moses Atuyambe, the Sector Commander Kasese under the 115 Battalion, the vehicle was intercepted during an operation targeting illegal fishing activities and trade in undersized fish. The suspects were taken into custody for police investigations, after which the court ordered the confiscated fish to be destroyed through burning as part of enforcement measures against the sale of immature fish.
Paddy Muhindo, a fisheries official from Lake Katwe, said the fish measured about four inches, which is below the required market size. He called on fish dealers to follow the set standards, saying that protecting young fish is important for maintaining future fish production-URN.
