A fatal road accident occurred in Budaka District on Saturday morning, claiming the life of a 17-year-old student and leaving several others seriously injured.
The accident, which happened at around 9:00 a.m., involved a motorcycle, registration number UMA 641FB, and a pedestrian identified as Namuyonga Raziya, a pupil of Sekulu Primary School. She died while being rushed to Mbale Hospital for treatment.
According to Fredrick Kyempasa, the Bukedi North Region Police Spokesperson, preliminary police reports indicate that the motorcycle and the pedestrian were traveling from Pallisa toward Kamonkoli when the pedestrian suddenly turned right, leading to the collision.
Police officers from Budaka Central Police Station (CPS) visited the scene, and the body was taken to Budaka Health Centre IV mortuary pending postmortem examination.
The motorcycle was impounded at Budaka CPS for inspection. The injured victims were rushed to Mbale Hospital for medical attention. Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
