UNBS Rolls Out Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS) to Enhance Service Delivery

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has today launched an Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS), marking a significant milestone in the Bureau’s ongoing digital transformation agenda aimed at improving operational efficiency, transparency, and service delivery.

The system was officially launched by the Executive Director, Eng. James Kasigwa, at the UNBS Head office in Bweyogerere. During the launch, Eng. Kasigwa emphasized the importance of embracing digital solutions to strengthen institutional performance and accountability.

“This system is a key step towards modernizing our operations. It will make us a more responsive institution, enable faster decision-making, improve records security, and ensure that critical information is easily accessible when needed,” He said.

“We would like to appreciate the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Public Service and the consultants, for the support towards establishing and automating a registry, for the first time in UNBS.”  Eng. Kasigwa added.

The Commissioner of Records and Information Management at the Ministry of Public Service, Lillian Rose Ariso, appreciated UNBS for embracing the digital transition stressing that it is the first entity to undertake the set up of a registry and roll out the EDRMS at the same time.

The Electronic Document and Records Management System is designed to streamline the creation, storage, retrieval, and management of records across the bureau, replacing paper-based processes with a secure, efficient, and centralized digital platform. It is expected to deliver several benefits, including:
