Police in Koboko District have launched a general inquiry (KOB GEF: 06/2026) into the missing Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results for 34 pupils of Bamure Primary School, Ludara Sub-County. The investigation follows a statement issued by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) public relations office on February 3, 2026, regarding missing Integrated Science scripts for the pupils.
“The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) would like to assure the public that the missing PLE scripts of Integrated Science for learners of Bamure Primary School, Koboko District, have been recovered and examiners invited for marking and subsequent grading of the candidates,” part of the UNEB statement reads.
According to Jennifer Kalule Musamba, Principal Public Relations Officer at UNEB, the envelope containing the scripts was first handed over to Koboko Central Police Station, which confirmed it had not been tampered with. The scripts were then returned to UNEB for marking.
However, police reports indicate that when UNEB released the 2025 PLE results on January 30, 2026, the Koboko District Inspector of Schools discovered missing marks for all pupils at Bamure Primary School in the Integrated Science subject. Rita Harriet, the District Inspector of Schools, instructed the school’s headteacher, Mr. Waku Zabair Abiriga, to submit a formal complaint with supporting evidence that the pupils had sat the Integrated Science examination.
Before receiving a response from UNEB, the headteacher reportedly discovered the missing PLE script envelope inside a metallic suitcase used by UNEB during examination periods to store answer scripts. He immediately informed the district inspector, who then filed a formal report with the Koboko Police.
Josephine Angucia, West Nile Police spokesperson, said: “A General Enquiry File has been opened to investigate the circumstances under which the PLE answer scripts envelope for Integrated Science, random number 819239 of Bamure Primary School, was not submitted for marking, subsequently leading to missing marks for all the thirty-four (34) pupils.”
Under the command of DPC SP Michael Masereka, police visited the school, examined the scene, documented evidence, and recorded statements from relevant witnesses. They confirmed that the sealed UNEB envelope was recovered from a blue metallic box in the headteacher’s office and that the scripts for Integrated Science were not submitted for marking.
A total of 34 pupils sat for the Integrated Science exam, and the missing scripts led to incomplete results. Police have appealed for calm among pupils, parents, teachers, and the general public as UNEB proceeds with marking and releasing the results.
