The Government of Uganda has renewed its support for the African Coffee Park in Ntungamo District, as part of efforts to drive value addition, industrial growth and local brand development.

The State Minister for Finance, Hon. Henry Musasizi, said government plans to allocate funding in the current financial year to support the facility and similar innovations seen as key to transforming the economy.

Musasizi said the project aligns with the President’s focus on investments that create jobs, boost production and strengthen Uganda’s export base.

“The President is committed to making sure that such innovations are supported,” he said.

Rwampara County MP and Chairperson of the Finance Committee, Hon. Amos Kankunda, said Parliament will back initiatives that promote value addition and strengthen local industries.

He said legislators will push for support to ensure projects like the African Coffee Park grow and compete both locally and internationally.

Kankunda added that leaders will also take on a role in promoting the facility and its products as part of efforts to market Uganda’s processed coffee.

The Chief Executive Officer of Inspire Africa Group, Nelson Tugume, welcomed the government’s support, saying it has enabled progress at the facility.

However, he pointed to ongoing challenges, including unreliable electricity, water supply and access to stable markets.

Tugume also urged young investors to stay focused and resilient despite the challenges.

The African Coffee Park is expected to boost coffee value addition, create jobs and increase Uganda’s earnings from coffee exports.
