The police in Adjumani District have arrested four people in connection with the death of one person in Miniki Village.
The victim has been identified as Williston Ingavure, 33 years, a resident of Ringa Ajugopi Village, Dzaipi Sub-county, Adjumani District. It is alleged that on Thursday, at 11:00 PM, the deceased was returning from a bar along the road in Miniki Village when a group of youth stopped him, suspecting him of involvement in criminal activities.
During the encounter, as the deceased tried to explain his whereabouts, one member of the group reportedly assaulted him, accusing him of theft and questioning his presence at that hour, and the assault rendered him unconscious, and he was left lying along the road.
Collins Asea, the North Nile regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said the body was discovered in the morning, at 5:00 AM, by residents heading to their gardens.
The incident was immediately reported to Nyumanzi Police Station, leading to the opening of a murder case. “A case file has been opened at Adjumani Police Station under reference number ADJ CRB 574/2025. Scene of Crime Officers –SOCO and homicide investigators from CPS Adjumani visited the scene to collect evidence.
Asea says that the four suspects, whose names have been withheld, are currently in custody at CPS Adjumani as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
