Police in Adjumani District have arrested eight suspects following chaos that erupted during a music event at Oasis Dynastic Music Club, Lajopi Gymnasium Cell in Cesia Ward, Adjumani Town Council. The commotion, which broke out at around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, was triggered after the main artist, Kapeke, a Ugandan musician from Kampala, failed to appear for the scheduled performance.

Angry supporters who had paid gate fees turned unruly, damaging property worth millions of shillings and setting part of the club building on fire. Items destroyed included televisions, plastic chairs, crates of beer, bottles, smashed window glass, and other property belonging to the club. A police patrol vehicle, registration number UP 7673, also had its driver’s side window and mirror smashed.

North West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, Collins Asea, confirmed the incident, saying officers swiftly intervened using live bullets and tear gas to disperse the violent crowd. “During the incident, two police officers, Corporal Samuel Ojara (driver, No. 52214) and Police Constable Francis Meri (No. 56408), sustained injuries from stones thrown by the crowd and are currently receiving treatment at Adjumani Hospital,” Asea said.

The eight suspects arrested have been identified as Pamela Tracy Kebuka, Operations Manager of Oasis Dynastic Music Club; Patrick Iceta; Grace Ukusi; Gloria Mundua; Joel Obudra; Andruga Ochora; Emmanuel Unziku; and Steven Igama. The damaged police patrol vehicle has been parked at Adjumani Central Police Station for further inspection as investigations continue.
