MTN, Busoga Kingdom celebrate seven years partnership in sports and social development

MTN Uganda and Busoga kingdom pride in seven years long partnership of supporting sporting activities, geared towards creating transformative change within the grassroots communities. During MTN group’s visit to Jinja city’s based Kyabazinga palace, Igenge, the kingdom’s deputy premier, Osman Noor, who doubles as the partnerships’ manager says that, following their memorandum of understanding signed in 2019, both entities share a cordial relationship of touching the lives of the people at grassroots levels.

Noor says that sports promotions like the Masaza cup and cycling races have served as platforms of mobilization, where kingdom authorities sensitize communities on the different progressive programs, geared towards creating long lasting impact. Noor says that, such initiatives have resulted into talent development, with a number of youths joining different lower division and big league football clubs, respectively.

He says that, such initiatives have created employment opportunities for the largely youthful populations, living in the different parts of Busoga sub region. Noor further says that, their partnership has been characterized with respect for cultural values, which are the core foundations of Busoga kingdom as a whole.

He says that, observance of cultural values resonates well with the needs of the people living in Busoga and it creates a fertile ground for the thriving of initiatives, which directly address community concerns. Noor notes that, since the Kingdom is the custodian of cultural values across Busoga sub region, they delight in like minded partners, whose cordial relationships foster sustainability for the general good.

Also, the Kyabazinga, owek. William Nadiope IV says that, the kingdom has been able to service the needs of the people through intentional partnerships, whose sole goals carry the end of benefiting all people in enterity. Kyabazinga says that, being named as the UN’s ambassador to spearhead campaigns geared towards ending teenage pregnancies and early marriages, partnerships have been key in the realization of this goal.

Kyabazinga says that, these partnerships have created pathways to conduct meaningful outreaches, where girls are encouraged to stay in school and overly lead fruitful lives all through. Meanwhile, MTN’s CEO, Sylvia Mulinge says that, their partnerships have been boosted with sporting activities for young women and girls.
