Four people have died in a road accident that occurred on Wednesday at 9:30 PM in Towei Village, Sipi Town Council, along the Kapchorwa-Mbale Highway.
Fredmark Chesang, the Sipi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the accident, identifying the deceased as Rossler Daniel, an Australian national; Cherukut, the LCI Chairperson of Sukut Village in Munaria Subcounty; Mushadi Mwanga, a resident of Central Division in Kapchorwa Municipal Council; and Fadil Chemos.
Two others, Murishindi, 35, and Filex Kitiyo, 28, sustained injuries and were rushed for medical attention. According to Chesang, the accident involved a Toyota Probox (UBK 686S) owned by Klan Logistics, which was traveling from Kapchorwa to Mbale.
The vehicle veered off the road and knocked a Bajaj motorcycle carrying two passengers, killing them instantly, before overturning multiple times.
This is the second fatal accident at the same spot this year. In January, a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (UBJ 034K) carrying cabbage from Teryet in Kapchorwa to Mbale lost control, veered off the road, and overturned multiple times, killing three people who were aboard-URN.
