Veronica Hasashy, the physical planner of Busiu Town Council in Mbale District, has been arrested for allegedly forging land titles.
He was arrested on Thursday, on the orders of the Mbale District Resident Commissioner George William Wopuwa. Hasashy is accused of forging a minute meeting that facilitated the transfer of a land title from Juliet Musibukha’s name to Racheal Nabudde.
However, investigations revealed that the meeting never took place, and Hasashy allegedly conspired with Nabudde and other district land board leaders to grab Musibukha’s land.
Muhammad Mafabi, the LCV Chairperson of Mbale District, stated that investigations are ongoing, and more district land board officers could be implicated in the scandal.
Elgon Deputy Regional Police Commander Damiano Katwisime confirmed the arrest, adding that Hasashy is being held at Mbale Central Police Station, and further investigations are underway to arrest other district officials involved-URN.
