By KT Reporter

Mathias Mpuuga days ago appeared on NTV  On Spot programme where he told moderator Patrick Kamara about many former comrades who have since betrayed him in order to appease his archival and hater-in-chief Bobi Wine Kyagulanyi Sentamu.

Without being specific on who it was, Mpuuga referred to a comrade who is now an MP and senior member inside NUP whom he said he was always there for.

He referred to the days when the MP had nothing and was a pauper, poor as a Church mouse and had to depend on him and a few others to keep surviving.

The man Mpuuga was referring to was understood by many opposition diehards on social media to be Muwanga Kivumbi the Butambala county MP who has since decamped and become a sycophant for Bobi Wine.

Kivumbi these days is the chief rumor monger who every morning drives to Magere to report to Bobi Wine about Mpuuga’s next moves and NUP Caucus members who are friendly and working with him to promote his Democratic Alliance. This is how Kivumbi has found favor at Magere of Bobi Wine, his wife Barbie and their children.

On NTV, Mpuuga said his wife and children were disappointed to see that the Muwanga Kivumbi, for whom he they always sacrificed and shared the little they had with, had turned to treat them this way.

Mpuuga spoke of the days when his wife would be asked to surrender her person car to enable then poverty-stricken Muwanga Kivumbi to have a car to drive in the constituency in those years of late 2000s before he managed to defeat NRM’s Faizal Kikulukunyu and become MP in 2012.

“My wife would surrender her car and use a boda boda for weeks to enable the colleague run constituency errands because at that time he had nothing but when you see and hear the things that same colleague does these days, working every day and night for the political down fall of Mpuuga, you wonder what exactly it is about human nature,” Mpuuga said.

Recently when Kivumbi appeared on Ssanyuka TV and referred to him as a barking dog for which he doesn’t have time, Mpuuga’s supporters took to social media to remind the Butambala MP of his poverty-stricken days which they cursed him for forgetting about so quickly.

Led by Defiant Martin Mukasa, Ntale Namuguzi and others, the supporters vowed to produce evidence of Muwanga Kivumbi frequenting Mpuuga’s offices at Datamine those years ago for lunch and small transport to enable him board a taxi back to his sibling’s muzigo in Kawempe where he used to sleep because he couldn’t even rent a small muzigo for himself.

Today, courtesy of the salary of Parliament which he joined in 2012 because of the support friends like Mpuuga offered, Muwanga Kivumbi is a rich man with two wives and nice houses and apartments in Kiira Municipality areas of Buwate and others. He also has a commercial building in the Kyengera Busega neighbourhood.

Having forgotten the poverty he lived in before becoming an MP (used to wear faded suits and slanty shoes), Kivumbi these days likes telling off poor young people in the opposition while demanding them to let him be.

Mpuuga says that each time she reflects on those old days and looks at the pride with which Kivumbi talks these days, his wife feels sad, frustrated and heart-broken. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
