Supporters of Democratic Alliance DA boss Mathias Mpuuga say that they have unearthed a plot by Kavule to sponsor thousands of foot soldiers into the Enkuuka fete which Kabaka’s CBS radio has organised to usher in the new year 2025 on the night of Wednesday 31st December.
In their ongoing social media mobilisation, the Mpuuga supporters have called for a coalition of tens of thousands of well-intentioned Ugandans who will defend Alien Skin who the NUP-sponsored showgoers have specifically been instructed to harm inside the much-publicised Enkuuka, which annually takes place inside Kabaka’s Mengo Palace aka the Lubiri.
Led by Abbey Mukiibi Nkaga, organisers are expecting close to 100,000 people to pay up and come for the Enkuuka which on previous occasions even the Kabaka personally attended to be able to usher his people into the new year.
Mpuuga’s camp believes that the Kyagulanyi group has many reasons to target Alien Skin including the fact that he is the former LoP’s major Alliance partner as the country counts down to 2026.
The other reason the Kyagulanyi squads want revenge is because Alien Skin recently led extremists from his Fangoni crew to raid NUP headquarters at Kavule at night which they overrun and took charge of for hours without Kyagulanyi’s security being able to promptly overpower them.
The NUP leadership, which remains humiliated having failed to effectively fight back, looked forward to rescue from the Uganda Police Force but none came through. The much publicised incident emboldened Alien Skin to promise a second raid on NUP headquarters.
Like Kyagulanyi, Alien Skin is a celebrity and a much-followed musician who is popular among millions of Uganda’s young people, who are responsible for the political stardom veteran musician Bobi Wine scaled in the run up period to 2021 when he first offered himself for elections.
So, the Kyagulanyi group has well founded reasons to be nervous about the Alien Skin-Mathias Mpuuga alliance going into 2026. Because of the 25m they have quarterly been getting under the IPOD arrangement for each of the 57 MPs NUP has in the 11th Parliament, the Kyagulanyi group is understood not to be doing that badly financially but even the Mpuuga camp members aren’t broke anymore. They are believed to have prepared some significant sums of money to match Kyagulanyi’s ever dollar.
The Mpuuga supporters, having worked hard to deflate and humiliate Kyagulanyi as he buried his 105-year-old grandmother in Masaka on Friday 27th December, are more than ready to use the Enkuuka fete to demonstrate the extent to which political dynamics in Buganda have changed. They want to use Kabaka’s event to depict the fact that their DA Principal (Mpuuga) is currently the leading kingmaker for the region and not Mr. Wine anymore.
The Mpuuga group have the money and the celebrity-derived momentum deriving from their political relationship and alliance with Alien Skin who also has his own vibe-filled squads capable of taking on and potentially eclipsing Kyagulanyi.
The Enkuuka is seen as a do or die opportunity for them to demonstrate to skeptics that Kyagulanyi’s influence in Buganda has always been inflated and that of Mpuuga underestimated.
They will be working towards shielding their man Alien Skin to ensure that no one succeeds at harming and throwing urine-filled bottles and buveras at him while depicting Mathias Mpuuga as powerful and a well accepted leader for Buganda region which the Kyagulanyi momentum swept in 2021.
Mpuuga supporters are determined to push through their claim that Kyagulanyi’s NUP swept votes in Buganda, and not any other region, simply because its where effective mobiliser Mathias Mpuuga was in charge of as the regional Deputy President.
As they mobilise for the anti-Kyagulanyi operation at the 31st December Nkuuka, Mpuuga’s supporters are motivated by the fact that Kyagulanyi didn’t attract as many large crowds in Masaka, as he came for his grandma’s burial, as had been the case on previous occasions.
They are claiming that boda riders in Masaka City shuned him as he cruised through their streets and also failed to fill the Kitovu cathedral where a memorial church service for his slain bodyguard Frank Senteza was held before proceeding to Matanga for the burial of his grandma.
Abed Bwanika, a key Mpuuga adherent and coordinator, took to social media (X) and declared this a very successful operation against Kyagulanyi who was accused of ferrying thousands of foot soldiers into Masaka, having developed premonition that local residents wouldn’t be enthusiastic towards his visit.
