During his weekly talk show on Bukedde FM, State Minister for Lands Dr. Sam Mayanja vigorously rejected claims by Buganda Kingdom that the coffee boom in the region is a direct outcome of the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga’s campaign to promote coffee growing through the Mwanyi Terimba programme.

Mayanja asserted that Buganda Kingdom is too poor to afford giving out all those millions of coffee seedlings Mayiga claims to have given out through the Mwanyi Terimba programme.

He claimed that Mayiga was very defensive of UCDA because its leaders had used government money to hand over millions of coffee seedlings to Buganda Kingdom officials to give out, in order to diminish President Museveni’s relevance.

Mayanja said that by doing this, the UCDA bosses committed treason by conniving to have Charles Peter Mayiga overshadow the role of the President in the lives of coffee farmers in Buganda.

The Minister said that the President has been quiet but will be forced to fight back if Mayiga doesn’t stop making provocative statements while claiming to be the one solely responsible for the coffee boom in Buganda.

Mayanja, who also disputes Mayiga’s title as Katikkiro and that of Kabaka Mutebi, vowed not to be intimidated by social media crusaders but to go down fighting until he puts Buganda Kingdom and its officials in their rightful place.

Warns Vision Bosses:

On the same show, Mayanja also demanded that the President finds a way to sanction and punish the leadership at Vision Group for allowing the Bukedde newspaper to conduct business in a way that portrays the Kabaka of Buganda as being above the President yet this isn’t true. Mayanja demanded to know why Bukedde newspaper should ever design and put out a cover page portrayal depicting Kabaka’s photos and function as being bigger and more important than that of the President.

In his view, it’s abominable to have any news coverage in Bukedde newspaper where Kabaka’s story leads and that of Museveni is pushed to the periphery. Mayanja also faulted Bukedde newspaper for over publicizing Katikkiro Mayiga’s views yet in his view, the Buganda Premier is always not truthful in his public statements.

The moderator Terra Kaaya had a difficult time reining in the Minister not to over criticize his bosses and in the end, the Sunday programme ended ahead of its usual time as Mayanja’s venom proved too much for Terra Kaaya to stomach.
