Friday didn’t start well for Ofwono Opondo. The CDF General Muhoozi Kainerugaba announced he was going to destroy him if he doesn’t apologize for being hostile to him on social media.
Similar tactics were previously used to get ministers Milly Babalanda and Justine Nameere to bend a knee in return for the CDF’s pardon.
Responding to the CDF’s tweet, Opondo said he was ready to go as a hero to meet his creator than apologize over wrongs he didn’t do.
He alerted the CDF to prepare to be at his burial in Tororo district’s Ayago village in Mulanda where he has to be buried next to his ancestors.
Opondo tagged his death wish to the president, the speaker of parliament Oboth Oboth and deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa.
Social media users concluded that by tagging the president, Opondo was trying to shield himself from the punches general Kainerugaba and his social media army would be visiting upon him.
President Museveni didn’t intervene, which made Ugandans on social media to conclude that no one is safe anymore in Uganda.
Within a short time, the CDF replied making it clear he was looking forward to attending his funeral if being buried in Mulanda is the path old man Ofwono Opondo had chosen.
Social media users quickly divided themselves into team Ofwono Opondo and others team CDF. Choosing to be in the middle, lawyer Hussein Kashilingi pleaded with the CDF not to destroy Opondo. He asked for permission to go and persuade Ofwono Opondo to apologize as required so that he is able to live in peace.
