Lady Justice Mary Kaitesi of Mukono High Court is among three people who were injured in a road crash at Kiryoro along the Pallisa-Tirinyi road in Kibuku District on Sunday night. The others are Corporal Pamela Makirwoth, the judge’s bodyguard, and the driver of a Mitsubishi Fuso truck whose identity wasn’t readily available at the time of filing this story.

The crash occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026, and involved a Toyota Prado and a Mitsubishi Fuso truck. According to Wilfred Kyempasa, the Bukedi North Regional Police spokesperson, the Toyota Prado, registration number UG 2500149, was being driven by 56-year-old Godfrey Kaziba, a resident of Kira in Wakiso District, from Tirinyi towards Pallisa.

The Prado reportedly reached a section of the road where a Mercedes-Benz trailer, registration numbers UBA 966I/UBA 329Q, had been parked after developing a mechanical problem. Police said the trailer was occupying one lane of the road and had no warning signs to alert approaching motorists. As the Prado driver attempted to manoeuvre around the parked trailer by swerving to the right, it collided with the oncoming Mitsubishi Fuso, registration number UA 816CE, which was loaded with scrap and travelling towards Tirinyi.

The Fuso overturned following the collision, while the Prado veered off the road and ended up in a trench. The injured victims were taken for treatment at an undisclosed health facility. Police have classified the crash as a side-swipe collision and suspect that the trailer’s improper parking contributed to the accident. Police officers led by S.O. Natumanya, the Officer in Charge of Kibuku Police Station, ASP Kajera, the Officer in Charge of Tirinyi Police Station, and a team of traffic officers visited the scene and began investigations.

The damaged vehicles were towed and parked at Tirinyi Police Station pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles. The trailer was also towed to a safe location to prevent another accident, while warning signs were placed at the scene. Police also drew a sketch plan and took photographs to aid investigations. The report was made at about 11:50 p.m. by No. 27297 H/C Moses Eriebu, a police officer attached to Kibuku Central Police Station and resident of Tirinyi Police Barracks-URN.
