Mourners have been arriving at St John’s Cathedral in Fort Portal City for the funeral service of the fallen king of Tooro Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, being presided over by Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu.
Omukama Oyo who died aged 34 in the United States where he was receiving treatment will be laid to rest today at 2pm at the Karambi Royal Burial Grounds.
Guests from different traditional institutions, government, the diplomatic community, kingdom leaders and subjects have been taking their seats at the cathedral ahead of the service. Mourners were being subjected to security checks at the entrance before being allowed into the church compound.
Only four speeches were scheduled to be delivered by: Princess Ruth Komuntale Nsemere, Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, the head of the Babiito royal clan, Musuuga Charles Kamurasi, and that of President Yoweri Museveni.
