The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Kingdom has launched its “Kingdom Revitalization Program,” set to run from August 14th to November 14th.
The announcement was made during a press briefing at Virina Gardens by Kingdom Spokesperson and Minister for Information, Geoffrey Kanyonyi.
The program aims to strengthen unity among the kingdom’s subjects and celebrate its rich heritage through a series of engaging activities.
One of the majors is “Pen Day,” scheduled for August 14th and 15th, which commemorates the pivotal moment when Rwenzururu warriors laid down their arms to pursue education and development.
Leading up to the much-anticipated coronation ceremony on September 2nd, several events will take place to foster community participation and cultural pride.
On September 14th, a special event called the “Birth Runner for the King” will be held, emphasizing the four pillars that underpin the kingdom’s foundations.
Kanyonyi urged all subjects to actively participate in these activities, emphasizing that the success of the program depends on collective effort.
The Uganda Police Force-UPF has expressed full support for the initiative.
Asp. Elly Maate, the Spokesperson for the Rwenzori East Region, confirmed that police will collaborate with other security agencies to ensure the safety and smooth running of all events.
He also noted that police officers are proud subjects of the kingdom, committed to its progress.
He said the revitalization initiative reflects the kingdom’s dedication to fostering unity, preserving cultural heritage, and advancing development within the Rwenzururu community-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
