Saturday July 25, 2026, was marked by silence on the roads action in the markets, homes and streets. The day was declared mandatory cleaning day for the country by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja on Thursday July 23, 2026, ordering all Ugandans to keep within their premises to do the cleaning between 7:00 to 10:00am.
The National Cleaning Day (NaCD) brought major towns and cities to an unusual standstill, with security agencies enforcing compliance through roadblocks, restricted movement and compulsory participation, while public response varied widely across the country. URN brings some of the moments in camera.
