A 53-year-old cleaner attached to Kabalagala Parents School has been stabbed to death following a bar fight in Makindye Division. Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Racheal Kawala has identified the deceased as Bob Kalyango, a 53-year-old cleaner at Kabalagala Parents School and a resident of Kibuli in Makindye Division, a suburb of Kampala.

Kalyango was allegedly stabbed to death by Farida Nakakande, 38, a resident of Bwire Zone, on Wednesday. According to preliminary police findings, the incident occurred at Namayanja’s Bar after the deceased picked a quarrel with the suspect, which escalated into a physical altercation.

The dispute reportedly started after the deceased was accused of smoking near the deceased. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly picked up a knife from her room and stabbed the deceased in the right rib.

The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. “Police responded immediately after receiving the report, secured the scene, and recovered the suspected murder weapon. The body was taken to KCCA Mortuary for a postmortem, and the suspect is in custody helping with investigations,” Kawala said.

According to the 2025 police crime report, 292 people were stabbed to death last year, marking the highest figure in three years. The numbers stood at 268 in 2024, 257 in 2023, and 221 in 2022-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
