RA road accident has claimed the lives of two people on Wednesday morning along Lira–Kamdini Highway near the URA office in Kamdini Town Council. The deceased have been identified as Rebecca Adero (24) and her child, Miriam Angwen, both residents of Pida village, Pukucha parish, Kamdini Sub‑County, Oyam District.

The accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. and involved a Mercedes Benz semi‑trailer (Reg. No. KDJ001D/ZD9275), yellow/blue in color, being driven by Mwendwa Komu, a resident of Nairobi, Kenya.

Ronald Odongo, a boda boda rider who witnessed the incidents, said that as the driver approached the URA checkpoint, he knocked a cement truck from the rear, lost control, crossed to the opposite side, and hit a pedal cyclist carrying her child.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson, has confirmed the accident, saying Police in Oyam District have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the accident. Okema said by press time that efforts to have the people trapped under the trailer removed are ongoing, while the driver rushed to St. Pope John Hospital Aber for treatment.

“Efforts to have the people trapped under the trailer removed are ongoing, while the driver was rushed to St. Pope John Hospital Aber for treatment. The cause of the accident is yet to be established,” Okema said-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
