Bushenyi Councilors Petition High Court Over Conduct Of Council

Twenty-four learners of Biggy Primary and Nursery School in Boro Parish in Pakwach District are receiving treatment at Panyimur Health Centre III following a suspected food poisoning incident on Sunday. School administrators and local leaders say the learners reportedly fell ill after eating fried fish brought to the school by a parent for his four children. They reportedly shared the food with other pupils in their respective dormitories.

Joyce Akumu Yoleng, the Secretary for Production in Panyimur Sub-county and Female Councillor for Boro Parish, says the affected learners developed symptoms including vomiting, stomach pain, and weakness before being rushed for medical attention.

Security officials have cautioned schools and parents to be strict on procedures regarding food brought from outside the school as investigations continue into the incident.

The GISO of Panyimur Sub-County, Wilberforce Ocakuwun, asks schools to tighten security grip on issues concerning learners’ health rights.

Meanwhile, the school head teacher, Melki Wanadi, says the matter has been reported to the police, and samples have been collected for laboratory analysis to establish the exact cause of the illness. He adds that the learners’ condition has improved following the ongoing treatments-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
