The newly reelected Luwero district LC5 chairman Erasto Kibiringo has advised fellow NUPians who were elected to local government positions to stop being hostile to the president and his NRM agenda.
Kibirango was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for the new Wobulenzi town council mayor in Luwero district on Thursday.
The mayor is from NUP but he has chosen councilor Grace Matovu of NRM to be his deputy, which Kibirango celebrated as being a good example.
He said this is the way to go because after elections, leaders have to work together to deliver services to their people.
Kibirango explained that local government leadership is a different ball game altogether, unlike being a member of parliament in parliament where an elected opposition leader only has to make noise and criticize government at all times.
He explained that when you are a local government leader you have to embrace president Museveni and the NRM agenda otherwise your manifesto will not be achieved because the money you use to make roads and equip hospitals in your area has to come from the central government.
He explained that this is how he has been able to deliver some achievements for Luwero district including improving on the district offices. The same event was presided over by Hajji Abdul Nadduli, the senior presidential advisor who is a resident of Wobulenzi town council.
