For many years, senior counsel Peter Mulira served as a minister in Kabaka Mutebi’s government at Mengo.

He was falling in the footsteps of his maternal and parternal parents who also loyally served Kabaka Mutebi’s predecessor Sir Edward Mutesa and even earlier on.

One of these was his maternal grandfather Ham Mukasa who served as Ssekiboobo or chief of Kabaka’s Kyaggwe county and accordingly got himself a lot of land uder the Buganda agreement of 1900.

Peter Mulira himself has been a senior lawyer in Kampala for several years. And hence he is a man of high repute.

His foregone foregone parents left for him and the other Mulira siblings with huge chunks of land especially in Mukono Kyaggwe to the extent that they were able to even donate some of it to church of Uganda for the establishment of Uganda Christian university.

In Kampala which is Kyadondo, the Muliras have a lot of prime land in Kansanga, Muyenga, Mutundwe, Rubaga and even in Kigo where they originally owned several square miles of land including on the hill overlooking Victoria Serena Kigo.

However, senior counsel Peter Mulira’s world is currently crumbling like a park of cards. As you read this, the lands division of the high court in Kampala has authorised the auctioning of several of his acres of prime land in Mukono at a place called Kitega.

This resulted from a court dispute Mulira had with a lady plaintif called Linda Luyiga since the early 2020s. In the end, Mulira was declared a judgement debtor who, on failing to pay Luyiga’s damages, court directed the auctioning of his properties to enable the successful plaintiff Luyiga to recover what is due to her.

Under the attachment order deriving from execution application no 148 of 2024, the high court’s land division has since directed Legalmax advocates, a Kampala law firm, to sell Mulira’s several prime properties through public auction within 30 days from now unless he pays up what is owed.

The property to be sold off through public auction includes block 116 plot 1654 Kitega Kyaggwe Mukono and another block 116 plot 1655 at Kitega Kyaggwe Mukono. This comprises of both land in several acres and several expensive buildings erected on it.

Using the warrant of attachment given to them by the land division of the high court, the Legalmax advocates law firm managers are already looking for buyers and the thing is going to be sold off, rendering Peter Mulira homeless, unless he pays off several hundred million within the next 30 days.  Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
