Two Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) soldiers, Pte Moses Mutebi and Pte Mulumba, including two civilians, have been arrested on suspicion of conducting night robberies in Kasangati town council.

The case recorded at Kiteezi Police Station under reference SD 29/03/2025 was an intelligence-led operation carried out at Kiteezi Cell, Kiteezi Ward, Kasangati town council, Wakiso District.

According to security sources, a few days ago, a joint operation was conducted at Kiteezi ghetto area led by ASP Charles Twinemukama with the support of UPDF led by Major Lubwama.

“Following the information on a civilian who always wears UPDF uniform during night around Kiteezi and always moves in a vehicle UBK 813A Subaru black in colour. The operation was successful, three suspects were arrested, including the same vehicle UBK 813A Subaru,” sources said.

A senior police officer further revealed that Pte Mutebi is attached to the 73 Battalion under the 5th Division. Others are civilians called Emmanuel Muyingo, a resident of Busiika and Ezekiel Wandera, a resident of Bamba cell, Kasangati town council, Wakiso district.

Security said the exhibits recovered from the suspects include one UPDF jacket, four women’s dresses, one pair of children’s shoes, and two pairs of women’s shoes. Security findings alleged that the suspects had been seen around the Kiteezi area wearing UPDF uniforms, mostly at night.
