Anthony Kushaba 38 the Ntungamo district Communication officer’s death was caused by ruptured vessels to the heart, according to a postmortem medical report from Itojo Hospital.
The report has been shared by his friends and relatives. Eng Prosper Butubuura, the deceased’s close friend, says doctors have this morning told them that most vessels that transport blood to the heart were ruptured but never gave the cause of the rupture.
Butubuura says he spent Wednesday with Kushaba at a burial of a relative in Kajara before they separated at about 10:00pm. He became suspicious when Kushaba failed to report to work by midday.
After contacting his wife and relatives in Kabale who too had not seen him, they checked his rented house a short distance from the district headquarters only to realize it was locked from inside and there was no response to their knocking.
He says they called in Police which broke the door only to find his body lying on his bed face down and some drops of blood coming through the nose, dead.
Ntungamo district leaders and other politicians are paying tribute to Kushaba as a hardworking journalist. Samuel Mucunguzi Rwakigoba the district chairperson, has described Kushaba as a person who was dependable and social, noting that he remained committed to his work despite budget constraints in the district communications office.
Godwin Rubahamya Magambo, the National Unity Platform special envoy for the Western region and NUP Ntungamo District chairperson, says Kushaba has been a straightforward, courageous and development-minded person. The Ntungamo District Speaker, Ahabwe Bernard Mupenda, described him as a man of integrity who stood by his word.
Kushaba has been a renowned journalist who worked with Uganda Radio Network (URN) as Bureau Chief for Kabale and Mbarara Bureaus before joining Ntungamo district communications office. Kushaba will be laid to rest tomorrow Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his ancestral home in Katooma Village, Rwentonbo, Rwahi Town Council-URN.
