Edward Nzarwahabi 53, a retired teacher and a resident of Omukiguli village in Kayanja parish Mairirwe sub county in Kagadi district has died, apparently having committed suicide.
According to area residents, the deceased was last seen in the area on Friday evening while in good health. He is suspected to have committed suicide on Friday night at unknown time.
Nzarwahabi’s lifeless body was found hanging in a jack-fruit tree in his compound on Saturday morning by area residents.
John Baptist Karukuhe, the Mairirwe Sub-County LC3 chairperson confirmed the tragedy to Uganda Radio Network (URN) in an interview saying the reasons why the deceased decided to take his own life is still not known.
He has appealed to the public to always share their challenges with opinion, political and religious leaders for counseling and guidance.
Robert Nkwasibwe Birahuri, the deceased’s brother says his brother was last seen on Friday evening while in good health adding that he did not have any misunderstandings with family members.
Birahuri says, they were shocked when they discovered the deceased’s body hanging in a jack fruit tree.
According to available information, the deceased was staying alone at his home.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident adding that detectives from Kagadi police rushed to the area immediately on getting the report.
Police picked the body and conveyed it to the Kagadi general hospital for postmortem examination and later handed it over to the relatives for burial.
