A suspected robber has been shot dead in Kiwatule, Nakawa Division.

Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police –ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, said that the suspected robber attempted to attack a resident identified as Davis in the wee hours of Friday morning.

“Police from Kiwatule have put out of action a suspected robber who attempted to attack a resident in the early hours of today morning, August 22, 2025. The victim, identified as Mr Davis, reported that he had been attacked by two men armed with pangas near Ecomart Supermarket in Kiwatule,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

Upon receiving a distress call from Davis, the Kiwatule Police Station swiftly responded to the call and confronted the suspects. According to Davis and Owoyesigyire, in the process of trying to arrest the panga-wielding thugs, one of them attempted to attack officers and was subsequently fatally wounded.

The thugs gained access to Davis’ house in mysterious ways. They were hooded and masked. Owoyesigyire confirmed that the deceased thug was found dressed in a hood, a blue jacket, and a black mask.

Davis and other residents at the scene identified the deceased as a notorious robber, even though they did not know his name. They, however, said the suspected robber was part of the bigger group that has been behind several robberies in Kiwatule and Kigowa.

“His body has been conveyed to the city mortuary pending a postmortem examination, while investigations continue to track down his accomplice. We commend the officers from Kiwatule Police Station and Kira Road Division for their swift and professional response that averted further harm to the community,” Owoyesigyire said.

The attack on Davis comes barely a fortnight after thugs shot dead two businessmen in Kasangati Deo Bwanika, and another along Hoima road in Wakiso district. The Kasangati incident forced the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, to visit the area.
