Christians from all walks of life gathered in various churches on Wednesday to observe Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the Lent period.
Ash Wednesday signifies the start of 40 days of fasting and prayer, symbolizing Jesus’s time of separation in the desert. The ashes, traditionally made from burnt palms of the previous year’s Palm Sunday, represent repentance, humility, and mortality.
At the Diocese of West Lango, large crowds of Christians convened at St. Andrew Church Alido Prayer Mountain in Chawente Sub County, Kwania District, to dedicate themselves to God as they commenced the Lenten season.
During the prayers on the mountain, key prayer requests were made, including the Church of Christ and its challenges, the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON), home and family, peace and security, cultural leadership in Lango, and preparations for the Diocese of West Lango’s anniversary. Our reporter captured the event in pictures-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
