Two weeks ahead of the NRM presidential candidate’s campaign tour in West Nile, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has warned members against self-seeking behavior and interference in programs outside their jurisdictions.
President Yoweri Museveni is expected to begin his West Nile campaign tour on October 17, traversing the region to seek re-election for a seventh term in the February 2026 general elections.
During a strategic planning meeting for all NRM regional District Executive Committee (DEC) members in Arua on Saturday, Hamson Dennis Obua, the NRM Vice Chairperson for the Northern Region, urged delegates to mobilize massive crowds for Museveni’s upcoming campaign rallies.
Obua also cautioned delegates against untrustworthy members who, he said, tend to feel overly important, act selfishly, and attempt to overshadow others in an effort to catch the President’s attention.
Meanwhile, Richard Todwong, the NRM Secretary General, warned NRM delegates in West Nile to be prepared for consequences if they fail to effectively mobilize for the party’s presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni.
However, Samanya Dradriga, the NRM Chairperson for Koboko District, urged the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to ensure strict adherence to district-led campaign programs to avoid disunity among party members during and after the elections.
Similarly, Boniface Alioni, the NRM District Chairperson for Arua, said they had been rendered idle in the last elections. He called for renewed efforts to counter the influence of Dr. Lina Zedriga, the National Unity Platform (NUP) Vice Chairperson, whom he said is working hard to rally support for her party in Arua District ahead of Museveni’s campaign visit to West Nile.
According to the new NRM campaign strategy, district executive members will be responsible for organizing and managing President Museveni’s campaign activities in their respective areas.
The Central Executive Committee (CEC) also reiterated its position that independent candidates who lost in the recent NRM primaries will not be allowed to participate in the ongoing campaign programs.
