Mukono diocese has honored Amos Lugoloobi, the Ntenjeru North Constituency member of parliament and State Minister for Planning, for his distinguished service to both the Church and the people of Kayunga District.
Hundreds of Christians, cultural leaders, and government officials gathered at St. Paul’s Church of Uganda Parish, Ndeeba Archdeaconry Headquarters over the weekend, for a thanksgiving service presided over by the Rt. Rev. Enos Kitto Kagodo, Bishop of Mukono Diocese.
Bishop Kagodo commended Lugoloobi for his unwavering support of the Church, his commitment to promoting education, and his contribution to community development initiatives.
He cited several projects, including the establishment of Kibuzi Secondary School in Kalina, the construction and renovation of churches and clergy houses, and support to health facilities, as examples of the minister’s enduring impact.
“Lugoloobi is a representative who has not abandoned his people in Parliament. He has left a mark wherever he has served, and more is yet to be seen,” said Bishop Kagodo, who also extended appreciation to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for entrusting Lugoloobi with ministerial duties.
The Bishop encouraged Lugoloobi to remain steadfast in his service and reminded him of the biblical call to perseverance. He also urged Christians to emulate Philemon’s spirit of faith and unity, warning against divisions within the community.
Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, the Minister for Works and Transport, described Lugoloobi as a hardworking leader whose service was evident even during challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic. He urged the people of Kayunga District to continue supporting their MP and to maintain peace as the election season approaches.
In his remarks, Hon. Lugoloobi expressed gratitude to God, his family, and the Diocese for recognizing his service, pledging to continue working faithfully for his constituents and the nation. “I am deeply humbled by this honour. It strengthens my resolve to work faithfully for the people of Kayunga and our country,” he said. Samwiri Ssemugooma, the Bugerere County Chief in the Buganda Kingdom, also commended Lugoloobi for his continued support toward kingdom affairs. As part of the recognition, Lugoloobi received an Award of Appreciation, a Holy Bible, and a bull from the Diocese.
