The National Resistance Movement (NRM) registrar for Moroto district has released the Joint Campaign program five days before the party’s primary elections.
The program was released on Thursday after meeting with the contestants for the parliamentary and the district chairpersons to harmonise on the joint campaign roadmap.
John Logwe, the Moroto district NRM chairperson, said that they are behind schedule for the joint campaigns, and the candidates have been conducting individual campaigns.
Logwe noted that they delayed implementing the joint campaigns because many of the aspirants were not in the district. He said that the candidates shall be grouped according to their constituencies, and the campaigns will be supervised by the party leadership and the security.
Logwe said that they tasked the aspirants to draw their campaign program, and they shall be moving to each parish to campaign.
Dina Lorika Adupa, the aspirant for Moroto district woman Member of Parliament, said that they have all agreed to kick off the campaigns on Friday.
Adupa noted that the program was designed to favour everyone, and they shall be following voters to their respective gatherings.
Adupa revealed that her campaign messages shall be on the promotion of education, peace and development and women’s empowerment.
Lucy Apio Chegem, another woman MP contestant, welcomed the joint campaign initiative, stating that this would allow them to interface with opponents and also enable the voters to choose the right leader based on their presentations.
Chegem noted that the days allocated are not enough for their campaigns, but they will try everything possible to manage their time correctly.
Pulkol Esther Angella Lochomin, an aspirant for MP Moroto Municipality, said that it’s an opportunity for them to go as a team and speak to the electorate, persuade them and show their strengths.
Lochomin also observed that there has been relative peace during their campaigns, unlike the previous days when the political agents used to cause violence. She noted that they can campaign freely without violence after a series of engagements to harmonise the joint campaign guidelines.
Six candidates have been nominated to contest for the NRM flag bearer for the woman MP in Moroto district. The aspirants include Stella Atyang, Apio Lucy Chegem, Betty Amunyang, Bonisca Bonic Apuun, Dina Adupa Lorika, and Jeniffer Aleper.
