State Minister for Trade, David Bahati, has finally been thrown out of office as the NRM chairperson for Kabale District after he defied the party’s directive and he decided to run as an independent candidate for the Ndorwa West parliamentary seat, a position he has held since 2006.
The NRM Administrative Secretary for Kabale District, Amos Rwansheija, announced that Bahati’s deputy Bridget Asinga, has been elevated to full chairperson of the district NRM structure.
The minister was defeated by Counsel Eliab Naturinda in the recently concluded NRM primaries but went ahead to seek nomination as an independent, drawing criticism from within party ranks.
The minister is in big problems because there is even a section of christians in Kabale anglican diocese who are praying for his defeat because they say he is supporting one of the factions in the succession war involving bishop Gad Akanjuna and his rivals.
