The NUP boss Kyagulanyi has decided to politically sacrifice two veteran NUP foot soldiers in Masaka in order to create room for lawyer Sam Muyizi Mulindwa who he believes is the only one with enough clout to defeat Mathias Mpuuga. He wants Mpuuga defeated decisively and not narrowly.
But before getting Muyizi to agree to take on Mpuuga, the same Kyagulanyi had unleashed councillor Alice Nannungi of Masaka city to be the one to lead the war against Mpuuga. Nannungi, who used to release Mpuuga dirty secrets on social media, expensively recruited her groups of foot soldiers who took the risk of fighting Mpuuga in the Masaka trenches.
Then after sometime, Kyagulanyi got reports that Nannungi was too weak to manage Mpuuga. This was after CBS radio aired several news reports which showed Nannungi to have asked for 15m to allow Kabaka’s officials at Mengo to have their plan approved to build a hospital in Masaka city and this greatly humiliated NUP especially the anti-Mpuuga camp.
Kyagulanyi also realised Mpuuga was deeply in bed with leaders at Mengo and the catholic church. Yet Nannungi was too weak to counter him on that front. That is how he considered Muyizi because he shares similar traits with Mpuuga. He is deeply connected in Mengo and catholic church and his father was even the Pokino which means Kabaka’s chief for Budu county.
Sebiina Gyaviira Lubowa, the Makerere university bursar also came into the picture and started pouring lots of money in NUP activities and more so the Barbie Kyagulanyi Foundation.
As the clan Katikkiro, Sebiina also helped Kyagulanyi to access the red carpet and shine at the Ngo/Leopard clan function at the time when Mengo was determined to isolate him after his diaspora spokesman Fred Lumbuye had made demeaning remarks the Kabaka, Nabagereka, Katikkiro, Prince Wasajja and other Kingdom officials.
Sebiina also had support of Masaka city mayor Florence Namayanja who was leading the war against Mpuuga. However, along the way Kyagulanyi developed cold feet and disregarded Sebiina too saying he wasn’t good enough to match Mpuuga’s charisma.
As per now, Sebiina is nursing swollen political and financial wounds because it’s clear that Kavule wants Sam Muyizi and they have no alternative for Sebiina who is clearly now unwanted. Namayanja remains supportive of Sebiina because she fears that Muyizi is a charismatic figure who can overshadow her from the office of being the chief NUP kingmaker in the politics of greater Masaka.
Namayanja became even more uncomfortable when foot soldiers close to Kyagulanyi came up with a hypothetical cabinet list in case Kyagulanyi beats Museveni in 2026. Muyizi featured on that chat as either minister of justice or attorney general.
The very generous Alice Nannungi had originally been offered the slot of Masaka city woman MP which she has refused to accept up to this day. Kyagulanyi has sent several people to go deliver that message but Nannungi, who originally was Mpuuga’s special friend having drowned into his political things since when she was an S6 vacist, keeps abusing them.
Nannungi, who no longer gets the direct audience of the principal these days, is very angry at anyone saying such a thing and is determined to run for Nyendo Mukungwe. For unknown reasons she is too scared of the Masaka city woman MP race which would require her to campaing in Kimanya Kabonera division too where Abed Bwanika would decampaign her properly.
