The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) will spend 11.5 billion shillings to conduct seven national team training camps as Uganda intensifies preparations for several major international football competitions.
According to FUFA’s national teams programme, the camps will begin on August 24, 2026, and run until December 13, 2026, covering the Uganda Hippos, Uganda Cubs, Uganda Cranes, Uganda Rhinos and the Crested Cranes.
The first camp will see the Uganda Hippos prepare for the AFCON U-20 Qualifiers in Tanzania from August 24 to September 30.
The Uganda Cubs will then enter camp from September 7 to October 25 for the AFCON U-17 Qualifiers in Rwanda before returning to camp from October 22 to December 13 ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.
Uganda’s senior men’s national team, the Uganda Cranes, will hold two separate residential camps for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers. The first will run from September 21 to October 6 for matches involving Tunisia and Uganda, while the second will take place from November 9 to 17 ahead of Uganda’s fixture against Botswana.
The Uganda Rhinos will also camp from October 1 to 31 as they prepare for the FIFA U-15 World Cup in Azerbaijan.
Meanwhile, the She Cranes, Uganda’s senior women’s national team, will enter camp from October 5 to 13 in preparation for the 2028 Olympic Games Qualifiers against Zambia.
Ahmed Hussein, the FUFA Director of Communications, said the intensive programme demonstrates the federation’s commitment to ensuring all national teams receive adequate preparation before representing Uganda on the international stage.
“These camps are a reflection of FUFA’s commitment to giving every national team the best possible environment to prepare for international competitions. We believe proper planning and adequate preparation are essential if Uganda is to compete successfully at continental and global tournaments,” Hussein said.
The 112-day programme represents one of FUFA’s most extensive national team preparations in recent years, with camps spread across different age categories and both the men’s and women’s national teams as Uganda seeks success in continental qualifiers and FIFA competitions-URN.
