Police in Adjumani district have launched a rescue and search operation following an outbreak of fire in one of the blocks of Adjumani General Hospital.
The fire, whose cause is yet to be established, reportedly gutted the block in the early afternoon hours of Saturday.
Collins Asea, the Police Spokesperson for North West Nile, confirmed the incident in a flash report, adding that the police fire and rescue team has been dispatched to the scene to conduct a rescue operation.
“We received information that a fire has broken out at one of the blocks within Adjumani General Hospital, involving staff members, and we are currently awaiting the arrival of the fire brigade from either Area City or Gulu City,” Asea said.
Without divulging further details, Asea said police are yet to ascertain the cause of the accident and avail full details of the extent of damage.
