People in Teso have been encouraged to embrace and promote locally available dishes in a bid to maintain and preserve the Iteso culture.
This was during a competition of three sub-counties in preparing the best local meals that celebrate Iteso culture.
Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng, the Iteso Cultural Union head, praised his subjects for displaying and preparing food that helps to recognise Iteso culture.
He said that the subjects should preserve the traditional cuisines of the Iteso community by preparing regionally renowned food that was previously well established for building and keeping an identity for Teso.
While addressing Katakwi district residents, Emorimor encouraged Iteso to retain traditional materials and foods in stock, such as Ecomai Ecadoi, Local bread, and others, which are known for their superior nutrition and ability to combat ailments like malnutrition.
Emorimor urged the Iteso to multiply in large numbers to provide a human resource that would benefit Teso, based on a census report that reflected Teso’s population according to the 2025 census report.
