Led by their president Miko Mpunge, a group of DP/UYD leaders were on Tuesday brutally arrested at electoral commission offices in Kampala’s industrial area.
Mpunge had been joined by Ismail Kirya from Jinja, Anthony Wadimba from Kayunga and Ddumba Julius from Kampala to storm EC offices.
They had gone to the electoral commission to demand for answers as to why EC chairman Simon Byabakama was fearing to look into many petitions DP party members have been taking there accusing Norbert Mao of stealing elections during the recent delegates conference in Mbarara.
The petitioners want the EC to investigate fraudulent activities by Mao and his group during and after the Mbarara delegates meeting.
So, this Tuesday morning, the DP youths stormed the EC to ask for answers as to why Byabakama is fearing to question Mao who happens to be his boss as the minister of justice.
They came with rotten pumpkins to show to Byabakama that Mao no longer qualifies to be DP president because he is only green on the outside and full of yellow inside him.
They came with journalists and used the chance at the EC offices to criticize Norbert Mao, something which annoyed the policemen present to call for re-enforcements to take away the protestors because its unacceptable to criticize Mao these days since he is a big man in government.
At first the DP youth leaders had been locked at Kabalagala police station but they later on went missing from there and no one would account for them anymore. This has created panic among other Mao rivals inside DP. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
