Kyewalyanga Muzzanganda, a veteran journalist from Jinja who works at parliament, says he is sick and tired of the hostile treatment he has been receiving from Ramson Muhairwe, the NBS TV reporter at parliament.

They are both Uganda parliament press association members but they are supporting different candidates for the NRM CEC position of the second national vice chairperson.

Muzzanganda supports Anita Among and all his posts on whatsapp groups are against members of the Rebecca Kadaga camp especially Parciz Namuganza.

Recently Muzzanganda posted his videos celebrating when Namuganza was rigged out of the NRM primaries for her Bukono county MP seat.

Ramson Muhairwe is a diehard Namuganza supporter and he kept attacking Muzzanganda on the different whatsapp groups, branding him a fake journalist who only works for bread. He described Muzzanganda as a shameless propagandist and a fake news peddler.

Muzzanganda who is always promoting his candidates openly, first ignored it but when Muhairwe’s attacks became too much, he started to defend himself.

As other journalists held their breath, Muzzanganda made it clear that Ramson Muhairwe had no moral authority to lecture anyone about media ethics because he was a bigger extortionist than him.

He said he has recordings of MPs complaining of too much extortion by Muhairwe at parliament. He claimed that in his news reports from parliament, Muhairwe only includes voices and video clips of MPs who pay him and he added that he daily charges between 300k and 500k for each MP to appear in his news.

Muzzanganda said that many MPs were now seeing the NBS brand as full of extortionists because of the actions of one individual Muhairwe. Muzzanganda went on to say that reporters from the so-called mainstream TVs at parliament are greater extortionists than bloggers like himself.

Muzzanganda also said that Ramson Muhairwe and other members of the NBS news crew had gone a notch higher at NRM ec headquarters where aspirants picking expression of interest forms from Tanga’s offices, were being asked to pay between 500k and 1m in order to get their story aired on NBS.

Muzzanganda added that many of the NRM aspirants were angry and wanted to call a press conference to expose NBS because the likes of Ramson Muhairwe had taken their hard earned money and ended up not running their story on NBS TV.

Muzzanganda’s point was that Ramson Muhairwe has no moral authority to accuse him of being a corrupt journalist. He added that he had all the recordings, pictures and video evidence which he said he is ready to table to NBS owner Kin Kariisa if NBS reporters like Ramson Muhairwe don’t stop spoiling his name while defending their Namuganza.

Some of the people on those whatsapp chat forums supported Muzzanganda by claiming that there other NBS journalists and editors who extort money from big people in NRM including ONC Uzeiye Namyalo of Kyambogo.

One of the contributors on the whatsapp group claimed that members of NBS news crew one time took 3m from Namyalo and refused to run the story, which annoyed the ONC boss very much. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
