The Rt. Rev. Bishop Vincent Kirabo of Hoima Catholic Diocese has cautioned Christians to refrain from immoral behavior, particularly excessive alcohol consumption.
He noted that the growing habit of alcoholism continues to undermine the values of the Catholic Church and the work of God.
Speaking on Sunday during celebrations at St. Jude Kasimbi Catholic Parish in Kibaale district, Bishop Kirabo strongly condemned the rise in alcohol abuse among Christians and urged the faithful to adopt income-generating activities that uplift families and strengthen the community. During the same event, the Bishop officially opened and blessed the newly established Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel and administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to at least 120 children, marking a significant milestone in the parish’s spiritual growth.
Rev. Fr. John Mary Busobozi, the Parish Priest of St. Jude Kasimbi, applauded parishioners for their continuous support toward the development of the parish, noting that their unity has made ongoing projects successful.
Representing Kibaale District Woman MP Noeline Kisembo Basemera, District Councilor Veronica Kiiza encouraged parents to guide their children in the Catholic faith and provide them with a stable upbringing rooted in moral values.
Meanwhile, Dr. Emely Kugonza, MP-elect for Buyanja East, pledged 300 bags of cement to enhance the construction of St. Jude Catholic Parish Church.
