The Police Chief Political Commissar (CPC) Assistant Inspector General of Police, Ubaldo Bamunoba, has cautioned musicians against fights that threaten the music industry. Bamunoba, who was meeting musician Pius Mayanja, alias Pallaso, said that going physical with rivals has the potential to cause regrettable incidents.
Bamunoba urged musicians to focus on developing their talents rather than spending a lot of time in fights that do not add value to them or the music industry at large. “Focus on your talent and promote peaceful conflict resolution within the industry other than violence. Violence doesn’t take you further but just kills your talent,” AIGP Bamunoba cautioned.
Pallaso and Patrick Mulwana, alias Alien Skin, have been involved in fights that almost became disastrous during Christmas and end-of-year festivities. Alien Skin forcefully removed Pallaso off stage at Buloba Forest Park, and several of his camp members were beaten by the former’s gang.
In response, Pallaso led his gang, and they ransacked Alien Skin’s camp in Makindye, leaving several vehicles damaged. Since then, there have been fears that Alien Skin’s group might retaliate and the feud could escalate further.
Several people, including Capt Mike Mukula, youth minister Balam Barugahara, and musicians led by Eddy Kenzo, the presidential advisor on the creative industry, have intervened by engaging both sides to avoid further conflict.
Barugahara even reached out to demand the intervention of the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, to prevent lives from being lost in the Pallaso and Alien Skin feud. AIGP Bamunoba, whose docket also spearheads community policing, has now engaged Pallaso’s camp and is expected to engage Alien Skin’s group as well.
Pallaso, during the meeting, regretted his actions and promised to control his responses when provoked like that of Alien Skin. Bamunoba explained that the meeting was prompted by the recent controversies between Pallaso and fellow musician Alien Skin.
“The discussion was on security concerns within the music industry and the importance of unity among musicians. We urged Pallaso to focus on his talent and promote peaceful conflict resolution within the industry other than violence,” Bamunoba said-URN.
