Moses Kasibante, the spokesperson for opposition DF party has advised what NUP must do to have its cadres invited to appear for political debates on CBS radio. He says Kyagulanyi should demand for a presidential debate so that he ends up getting free publicity not just on CBS but on all other radios in the country.
A former talk show host on CBS radio, Kasibante says that Kabaka’s radio has high standards and its moderators get bored and find it hard hosting guests who aren’t knowledgeable and eloquent.
He says that is why NUP people don’t get often invited because the party sidelines decent eloquent intelligent people who fit in the debating standards of CBS, because no body should be better or sound more intelligent or become more prominent than the principal.
He addas that what NUP needs to do is to realize that it needs to allow free thought instead of encouraging flattery and also attract intelligent people who are politically sophisticated enough to appear on radio talk shows, speak sensible things and sustain a debate and have depth without being abusive.
He says radios like CBS are known for high standards of debate which can’t be lowered simply because moderators and management want to appease Kavule. He advises NUP to have knowledgeable cadres who can sustain a debate so that more and more of its officials can be invited and hosted on Kabaka’s radio.
He says this is why a few NUP cadres get hosted there like Muwanga Kivumbi, Aisha Kabanda, Zahara Luyirika, Shamim Nambasa, Mulyanyama and a few others. In contrast, he says DF has many good orators and knowledgeable debaters which is why they keep being invited.
He faults NUP for thinking that being given the party ticket and umbrella symbol is enough to turn a dwarfed politician into an orator and eloquent debater which is not the case. “If you are empty like a jerrycan without water, mere being given the party ticket won’t change you into a knowledgeable debater who qualifies to be hosted on CBS.”
Kasibante, who is destined to win and become the new Rubaga mayor, was responding to NUPians like Fred Lumbuye, KCCA lord councillor Faridah Nakabugo and Ismail Lubega Kibibi who have been abusing the Katikkiro and other Buganda kingdom officials at Mengo over why NUP candidates are rarely hosted on CBS.
The trio has been demanding the expulsion of MD Kawooya Mwebe, programs director Abbey Mukiibi, news managers Alex Nsubuga and Joseph Lukyamuzi from decision-making positions on CBS radio on grounds that they are biased.
Kyagulanyi’s NUP supporters have always been calling upon Baganda to boycott CBS and also stay away from the nkuuka, the annual end of year concert CBS hosts at Kabaka’s Mengo palace every 31st December.
They claim that the nkuuka is sponsored by Museveni’s brother general Salim Saleh and MTN Uganda, a brand they say has to be fought because it shares the yellow colour with Museveni’s NRM party. Kasibante says this is the opportunity to defeat the Kyagulanyi foot soldiers’ chauvinism and arrogancy once and for all by making sure this year’s nkuuka registers larger crowds than ever before.
Large crowds turning up for nkuuka will be a waterloo for Kyagulanyi and his NUP candidates since the event will be 14 days to voting day of January 15th. Kasibante has also challenged NUP top leaders like Zahara Luyirika and Ali Nganda Mulyanyama, who frequently appear on Buganda kingdom’s CBS and BBS TV, to come out and denounce Lumbuye’s group or else they risk being misunderstood to be in support.
